A Happy Horse

“Happy Horse”, fired but still unglazed

Sometimes I sit in front of a lump of clay and don´t know what to do with it.

Then I begin to knead and pull at it without any intention whatsoever.

The last time I was doing that someone in my pottery course suddenly exclaimed:

“Ha! That looks exactly like horse kicking its legs in the air!” At that point it really didn´t, well not much, but it did show a tiny resemblance to this suggestion. And it was enough to give me a direction for my unused energy and all of a sudden I was kneading and pulling more purposefully!

This is what came out of it – my Happy Horse! Hope you like it!

P.S. I posted pictures of the horse with and without glaze to show you the difference. 🙂

  1. I like it, I think it is adorable! I’m a big animal lover, also. My project for the week is a rescued gnome statue that was broken, and that we have now glued back together. I have to repaint it because it has faded. Art is such a wonderful thing!

Oh, glueing statues back to life is a tricky business! The repainting part will be more fun, I guess 😉
I wish you good luck with bith and would love to see a pic when you´ve finished it! 🙂

      1. Sure thing, in fact , I feel there will be more painting posts, ha ha. I’m not an artist like that but I can sometimes copy things. I hope to do more photos also. I hope you have a great, productive summer!
