Winter Wonderland

Finally winter has come in all its glory – nearly 5cm of snow!

I know, I know, that doesn’t sound like much but here in Berlin it actually is 😉

Everyone who’s been born here, knows therefore that it’s imperative to forget about your plans for the day and go out and enjoy the temporary winter wonderland. 😄

And that’s exactly what I did!

  1. I’m not a ‘winter-girl’, counting down to spring already, however: the view snow provides is mostly indeed very beautiful 😉
Wishing you a wonderful new week, dear Sarah. XxX

    • I’m actually not that fond of winter either but I try to learn how to embrace this season because if I carry on protesting against it I would do so about 6 months! And that’s too much time and energy spent on something I can’t change anyway 😉 Also with snow it’s not difficult to like winter I find. It’s more or less endless rain, gray skies and chilling temperatures I dislike which is how winter in Berlin usually looks like.
Wish you a marvellous week too! xxxxxx

  2. How I love the fact that winter brings our inner child bursting forth if we let it! I’ll bet Berlin looks super-beautiful white-iced and full of chattering, laughing children and adult-children – I hope you have the loveliest of days as you get out and soak it up! ❄️ 😁 xxx

    • Thank you so much, Osyth! It really looks absolutely stunning and I just came from another glorious walk, this time the sun was shining and warming my nosetip 😄 It’s so lovely seeing everyone (kids, adults, dogs) enjoying the snow, I can’t help but smile all the time 😄
Hope you have an equally beautiful winter wonderland in France! Much love! 😄😚 xxx

  3. Well that’s certainly a great white canvas to conquer. Did you have the time to build a small army of snow people to help or did you just launch a few snow balls on the unsuspecting? I like the thought of the latter as an art project… 🙂

  4. This is so pretty, Sarah. I’m sure you enjoyed your snow day, it does sound like fun! I have to say that I’m not a big fan of snow, guess I’m just used to a temperate climate. I did always enjoy getting out of school for it when I was a kid, though. We don’t get much snow here, but if it does snow, it paralyzes everything, and everyone stays home, ha ha!

    • Thank you so much, L. T.! It really was a fantastic day! 😄 Normally I prefer lovely beaches and the sun but the first snow of a winter is always special to me and I enjoy it enormously 😄
Sometimes snow has the same effect here too with everyone staying at home but only if the surfaces are glazed over. But if it’s lovely crunchy snow everone seems to try to leave a footprint in the pristine snow 😉

  5. Sarah, your photographs are beautiful! So glad you were out for a walk in the winter wonderland. I enjoyed your views! 🙂
I have been telling my friends to remember sunglasses when the glare is upon the snow. xo
We have had snow a few times which I think you saw the Gray Chapel building next door to my apartment building? It looks like an iced castle! It is a blessing and a curse to have snow. Ice is what caused me to fall as I hurried off to work last Wednesday. Slipped on three brick steps and my back is bruised a bit.
    Be careful!
    Hugs, Robin

    • Thank you very much, Robin! 😄 And you’re absolutely right about wearing sunglasses – I had the most awful sunburn on my eyes a couple of years ago because I went on a walk across a snowy field! It felt like I was on the top of Mount Everest without wearing sunglasses. The glare on ice or snow is really mean. Luckily it was a cloudy day when I made these pictures.
And I’m so sorry to hear about your back!! I hope you get well really soon!! My mom has the most wonderful trick when it’s Oct on the streets: she puts on huge old socks over her shoes and the friction helps. Of course it does look rather peculiar but it works 😉 Maybe you can try it too? Take care! Hugs&Kisses! xxxxxxx

      • Aww, your Mom came up with a great non-skid solution! I am going to head back to the present on your blog now! I cannot believe how far behind I am on reading, Sarah. Take care and see or read you on the next post! xoxo ❤

    • Thank you! 😄 Unfortunately it’s all gone now and Berlin presents itself again from its very common symphony in gray. But I saw indeed someone skiing the other day! 😄 He didn’t seem to enjoy it much though probably too much ice already beneath or above the thin layer of snow… xxxxxxx

      • I imagine how quickly snow disappears in the city because of pollution and humidity. Yet, that desperate skier definitely made a statement even though he had been struggling 😉

      • LoL Sarah… love your snowful anticipation, ‘though must say it sounds kinda strange to my half-frozen ears 😉 Definitely around here, fresh snow is one thing we can depend on! Still, it is lovely to look at and I’ve been taking snoOow many flakey/hoarfrosty pics—just haven’t gotten around to posting ’em to the blog :-/
SnoOowww… here’s hoping you guys get lots of pretty snowflakes, plus plenty of time to play outdoors this weekend! 🙂 💜 Jackie@KWH
