On the 3rd day of my self-imposed new blog challenge –
Share Your Music! 30 Days 30 Songs
– I’m going to share with you one of the earliest songs that I can remember and that I still love so much!
Being born in the 80’s I’m aware that I’m somewhat biased, but really, you’ve got to admit – it was such a cool time!! 😉
And I meant it! Just think of the music, the movies, the fashion (okay, the last was a bit awkward at times, but quite a lot of fun too, wasn’t it? 😉 )… and the list could go on and on!
And when I first listenend to this song and watched the video clip I thought: “When I grow up, I want to be just like Cyndie Lauper!”
She’s one of many artists that truly shaped this decade, and even if my day-to-day outfits and hair colour ended up being a bit less eccentric than hers, on the inside, I’m really just the same – a girl that wants to have some fun!
Such a fun choice!! 😀

How is it I’m not surprised again to hear that you resonate with Cyndi Lauper’s music and attitude. I do too. She Bop! And Girls just want to have fun… It is just Pop Magic! 💗 Her work has been all about women empowerment. Same with Pat Benatar. Two foxy ladies. Love them both. Remember “Time After Time”, “True Colors”? And Benatar’s “Heartbreaker” and “You Better Run”? These songs never get old. On my way to read your other posts. I have some catching up to do. I’ve been busy having a wonderful time with Darren on his last visit. Lol.

Of course I remember all those other songs – they’re just brilliant!! 😀 So glad to hear you love these songs as well, Dominique! Music and women empowerment are two great partners! Lots of great artists and songs! 😀 xoxo

Yes, can’t argue with that Sarah. I am all for this great partnership. Your music challenge is a brilliant idea. I love the energy and exchanges it is generating among our WP friends. I intend to create a play list from all the suggestions. Hoping to find some time over the summer to do that. Hugs. xoxo

That’s a great idea about the summer playlist of yours, Dominique! I used to wildly swap music with friends as a kid but nowadays it more or less seems like everybody lives on their own little musical island – gotta change that! 😉
Have a fabulous new week ahead, dear friend! xoxo

I think it’s impossible not to like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” Was there ever a catchy tune? I don’t think so!

It’s really one damn fine piece of music – excuse my French. 😉 Glad you enjoyed it too, Liz!

I so love Cyndi Lauper (and the 80s if I’m honest). Love that you and Tracy both have dance music today — I’m thinking the same thing. Just got to find the image I want for the post 😀

Yay! The 80’s rock! 😀 And the dance music really was something – they don’t make music like that anymore. – Oh, no! I sound like my grandparents!! 😂

As soon as I read the title, I heard Cyndie Lauper in my head. An energetic song, but definitely your generation. Must be fun to dance to and to sing in with a group of your best friends.

It really is a lot of fun to dance to this song! Though I’m glad I can’t watch myself doing it – avoid mirrors when dancing 😉 – or I would probably give it up! 😂

This song is played often on the radio station that I tune into every day while I work. The station features non-stop music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Sounds like my kind of radio station, Rosaliene! 😉 Happy Tuesday!

I have trouble appreciating that song. Girls want so much more! But the older I get, the more I think Cyndi was spot on.

I know what you mean, Jacqui. But I think there’s more to the song than obvious at first glance. Much more!

No pressure, Sarah. I’ve actually managed to think of few more songs while my laptop was playing up last night, so you can relax. 🙂
