Share Your Music! 30 Days 30 Songs!

After letting The Stones go first yesterday, I of course have to share with you a Beatles song today.

As always, it’s actually impossible to choose which one I like best as they’re all brilliant in my mind. So I will settle with the one I heard first which happens to be one of my favourites as well.

 

 

When asked who’s my favorite Beatle the answer is much easier – it’s John Lennon. 🙂

  1. Paul was always my favorite. As for favorite songs: that would be All My Loving and Mr Moonlight. There were no opening chords on either song–the song just started! The Beatles kind of lost me later on. I like the pop tunes from when they first hit the scene. You notice I am reading your posts backwards! 😀 Such great selections.

    1. Oh! I love All My Loving and Mr Moonlight! (But then I think I really love ALL their songs! 😀 )
      Their first songs are really so awesome – a whirlwind of music and notes! I sometimes wish I had been around when they were first published… 🙂

  2. Ooh I love song!! I was excited to see which one you’d pick after you mentioned it in your John Lennon post and this is such a great choice 😀 I’ve no idea which one I heard first to be fair, cos my mum used to almost exclusively play the Beatles for us in the car and this has always been one of my favourite tracks 🙂 My favourite of the Beatles is actually George Harrison, cos the songs he wrote tend to be the ones I like most (it’s tight competition for my favourite, but it’s quite possibly while my guitar gently weeps). Anyway, fab post- as you can see I like talking about the Beatles a lot 😉 ❤

    1. Yay!!! 😄 Your mum sounds really cool! Excellent taste in music! 😄 I remember the exact moment I heard this song for the first time – it so changed my life! I was lucky that a friend of mine shared this mania – we practically listened almost exclusively to all their songs and watched the films countless times until we could quote them completely! 😂
      I sooo love When my guitar gently weeps!! George Harrison’s my second favourite Beatle – although the more I talk about favourites the more ridiculous it seems – they were ALL fab!! 😄
      I secretly still dream of having my own cafe one day where I’ll play The Beatles and nothing else – care to join me for a cup of tea? It’s on the house. 😉❤

  4. Honestly, I can’t pick only one song, too many favourites. And I like the Beatles as a band. I do not have a favourite, although George Harrison’s guitar playing gave me goose bumps and I really like Paul’s voice. I listened to Paul’s music a lot in my thirties too. I still do sometimes when I am feeling melancholic.

    1. I completely understand – picking favorites is way too hard! Even though John is my favorite, the Beatles wouldn’t have been the Beatles if it weren’t for George, Paul and Ringo as well.

  7. I’m not sure I have a favorite, but favorites include: Here Comes the Sun, Penny Lane, Ticket to Ride, Hey Jude, and more I can’t even think of right now. We have a Beatles station on our radio I often listen to in the car, and sometimes I enjoy the lesser known songs even more.

    1. It really is impossible to have just one favourite, Ann, and I love every single one of the songs you’ve mentioned. When I was a teen I always dreamed of opening my own cafe and playing only Beatles songs. 😄

  9. This song broke the rules about music for millions of kids. I remember Help from high school, all the school officials in a panic about the boys getting their hair in a Beatles style, all the girls swooning over them. Every event, every party, every moment of my life was accompanied by a Beatles sons for about ten years. I can’t choose a favorite, song or band member.

    1. What a brilliant time that must have been, Shari! I really envy you and your generation to have been part of that. 🙂
      In my time there have been quite a lot of boy bands who were also very successful (Take That, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys etc.) and although I did enjoy their music and was a fan, I always knew that it just wasn’t the same.
      Nowadays boys around here rather copy the hairstyles of international football (that’s soccer for you I believe) players. Not very original and not at all rebellious, I’m afraid. 😉

  13. Paul McCartney was my favourite Beatle when I was younger. I liked his voice best and once queued up all day for a ticket to see Wings. However, it’s always hard to pick a favourite Beatle song, the early ones were catchy tunes that appealed to my young ears but as I got older I appreciated the more complicated songs more. I haven’t listened to Paul’s work in recent years. I guess I’ve come to find him a little predictable and I don’t often listen to the Beatles now but I still have my vinyl albums so I can if I want to.

    1. I absolutely agree about the earlier songs being much catchier and the later ones more complicated. Nowadays I prefer the latter and watched a lovely concert in honor of the Beatles on television where they played all the songs from the St. Pepper´s album – it was fantastic! The different artists who took part really kept to the original version which was so nice!
      I really like Paul’s voice too, and it’s lovely to see him still being so active with his music.
      Love vinyl albums!

  18. Like Su, Ticket to Ride is a favourite of mine as well. Mostly because I sang it with my choir and my very favourite choir teacher did the arrangement for four-part harmony. It was brilliant. She has another choir in West Australia now. They did a flash mob sing on a train. Wish I could have been there. 🙂

    1. I used to sing in a choir too, Tracy – but nothing as fancy as The Beatles which would have been far better than the stuff we had to sing – lol! That flash mob sing on a train sounds awesome, I think I’ve heard about something similar on the news sometime.

  19. I think of the Beatles as the band of my childhood, probably because my family had a few 45s amongst our tiny music collection. I remember listening to Ticket to Ride endlessly, though I actually prefer the B side of that record — Yes It Is.
    didn’t really have a favourite Beatle — but I like the post-Beatle work of both John Lennon and George Harrison.
