A few weeks ago I came upon some of my old playthings, containing mainly of Barbie and Lego.
I had three different sets of Lego but since all of the bricks were jumbled wildly together in one box, I couldn´t be sure that nothing was missing before giving it away to charity.
So I had to rebuild everything of course, just to be sure 😉
Ah, and what fun we had! The strange thing was, once everything was build me and my friend somehow invented quite different stories of what was happening at those places than we did when we were little… surely due to all those wretched action movies and thrillers we watched over the years 😉
Here are some of the scenes (hope it´s not too macabre for your taste):
I also made a little sketch to commemorate the occasion. But this time Im´not simply going to show you the drawing – Nooo! Not this time. Today we go one step further – I will show you how exactly I did the drawing.
Yes, that´s right, I´ve been filming myself doing the sketch! Hope you have fun watching it! And don´t worry, I sped things up so it´s hopefully not putting you to sleep 😉
Love, love, love this. It’s so cool to watch you work and see the finished drawing. And as for playing with the Lego … I love the playfulness and your dark scenarios! We brought the boy-child’s Lego back from storage thinking we’d play with it but he found it and took it to his flat 😦 Apparently he and the flatmates are really enjoying themselves. Drat those pesky kids!! xxxxx

Thank you so much, Su! 😀 I was afraid people might fall asleep watching the video! 😀 So glad you liked it!
LOL! Boys will be boys 😉 Glad the boy-child took his Lego with him to have some fun, hope he will make some pictures of it like you did with the Smurfs 🙂 xxxxxxx

Loved the drawing-video too and of course the end result.

Wow, it was so fun to watch you work! I like the scenes you created, and I can see the influence of those wicked thrillers, of course 😉 Good you have also watched some decent vampire movies to conceive a romantic figure of Count Harecula 😉 xxx

Thanks so much, Inese! 😄 It’s been a bit strange for me to film myself at first but it was well worth the experience. 😄
And I feel so honoured that you can see the influence of some decent vampire films in my Harecula stories as there are so many bad ones too! 😂 Have a lovely evening! Much love! Xxxxxxxx

Oh Sarah, what scenarios, dark and humours, an unbeatable combination. I think it is a wonderful thing to set aside time to play, it is something that as adults, we have forgotten the joy it brings. I enjoyed the glimpse into your creative process and the super adorable finished sketch. Happy, creative week, Sarah!

Thank you so much, Lana! 😀 I won´t forget the fun I had with those toys! But now they are off to bring (hopefully more harmless 😉 ) joy and fun to kids who need them more than I do.
Have a happy and creative week, too! xoxo ❤

That was so much fun inviting us into your creative journey! Your morbid Lego scenes were fantastic — loved your mini horrors and drawing! You’re talents are limitless, Sarah. Truly. 🖤💛💙

Thanks so much, Rose! I knew that you would approve of those little horror scenes 😉 What striked me the most when I was playing those scenes, was how stupidly happy they looked killing each other off! 😀 Those damn smiles wouldn’t leave their faces! LOL! I´m sure there´s a good horror story in it that you could write about… 😉 Have a lovely week! xoxo ❤

I certainly loved them all, and their silly smiles added the perfect touch to the horror. Fantastic work, tigress. 💋❤️

Thanks so much, Iris! 😄 I think there should always be some time for fun and play no matter our age 😉 That’s how we will stay young in body and mind – much better than by using botox 😂
Have a lovely and creative week ahead! xoxo 💕🐨🌺🎨🎠

I’m sorry, but the fun of your post was too much for me and I have to suggest my own titles for your Lego scenes. 1. Rise of the Worker. 2. What Happened in Amsterdam. 3. Sorry, We’re All Out, Use Solar Instead. 🙂 Makes me wish I still had Lego sets.

LOL! 😀 Good titles, Óglach, but maybe “The Fall of the Working-Class” would be even better 😉
And it´s never too late to involve oneself again into the fantastic world of Lego 😉

Oh Legos! So much fun when I was a child. I really enjoyed the video. That was very creative. Great idea. And appropriate music to go with it. Cheers, Sarah!

Thank you very much, Chris! So glad you enjoyed the video and the music – it was an ordeal to find the right song! 😀
Did you have special Lego sets or only the basic stuff with which you created your own buildings? I had both and actually preferred the latter – much more fun that way 🙂 Cheers!

I had just the basics and like you liked the creativity and flexibility it offered. It was the Star Wars era and I made many space ships. Cheers

What a wonderful treat to have a chance to see you at work! Such a gentle deft touch with the paintbrush and I love the final drawing sketch. Haha! Looks like you had fun with the lego and I like your scenes and had to laugh at the first one…who knew a broom could be so dangerous! 😀😀

Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Annika! I´m so glad you liked the video and the scenes 😀 Yes, brooms are totally underestimated in the action and thriller genre, there´s definitely space to write some awesome stories about them as preferred killer weapons, and I´m not talking witches here! 😀 LOL!

I loved the adult macabre scenes you and your friend made and of course I find it endlessly fascinating watching the process of producing a picture. I feel quite childish now so I think I might go and play on the swings and slides in one of the play areas in the city – if you read of my arrest, don’t feel in anyway responsible … 😉 xxxxxxx

Thank you so much, Fiona! 🙂
I haven´t heard anything in the news so I assume you had a good time on the playgrounds without having been taken into custody 😉 😀
The last time I was on a swing (last January when I had to wait for an appointment and discovered this unused playground nearby) I got incredibly dizzy – don´t know how I did it as a kid! 😀 Thanks to the cold I think nobody noticed 😉 Have a lovely Sunday! xxxxxxxx

I did it, wasn’t arrested and had the BEST time. I’d forgotten the thrill of slipping down a slide and The Bean enjoyed the ride and the swinging too. This was all done yesterday evening when the rest of the City was preoccupied with the 30 year anniversary of the tram system – I had the place all to myself and wandered back feeling 6 years old which is my favourite feeling 🙂 xxxxxxx

Haha! 😀 I´m so glad you enjoyed your unobserved travel back into childhood, Fiona! How fortunate that everyone in Grenoble was too busy to look in your direction 😉 Although I´m sure they would have smiled and enjoyed the spectacle just as much as you did 😀
Here´s to feeling like 6 years old again! 🍾 (this is obviously a non-alcoholic champagne bottle for the occasion 😉 ). xxxxxxxxx
