In honour of my 3rd blog anniversary this week, I´ve created a new Photo Challenge and hope that you will all join me!
And here are the rules of the “7 Days B/W Photo Challenge – Street Photography”:
- Thank the person who´s nominated/tagged you and provide a link to their blog.
- Go out and take pictures of complete strangers for 7 days in a row and post one of them each day of the challenge (you can also post 7 photos in one post if you´re more comfortable with this).
- The photos should be in b/w.
- Nominate as many people as you like
This photo is my 5th entry:
Thanks so much for the shout-out, Y! heading right over to have a look at your pics!!
P.S. Did you get my comments the other day? It sometimes seems that my comments don´t land in the notifications although I can see them on the blog posts themselves…

So curious about the man… He is talking to someone obviously but about what? It looks like he lists reasons to support his words. Oh my imagination is going wild now…

Oh, I love how your imagination is going wild because of this shot!! I have to admit that I´m just as curious when I do the pics, and also during editing. 🙂

Yes, I imagine that you discover new details during editing that you had not seen at first.

I like how you captured the woman standing while everyone else is sitting. And everyone seems to be so intent. So, again, what’s going on? What are they thinking? Not knowing much about photography, I love the blurry editing, too. 🙂 Another great photo, Sarah! ❤

Thanks so much, Lauren! I was also intrigued by this group of young people but had to walk on or otherwise they would have noticed me taking pictures of them.😉 Have a beautiful weekend ahead! 😄💕

Lovely, liked the softness of image and silver type of tones. Have you applied any artificial blur? Or it’s anything like slower shutter speed?

Thank you very much, Hiren! Yes, I applied an artificial blur on this one during editing. 😊

Thanks so much, Ann! I think I like this one the best too, there’s something about people reading books, won’t you agree? A certain sense of calmness and peace.😊

So gorgeous. Not only did the creator make it b&w, s/he softened everything slightly except the focal point. Very nice.

The creator would like to thank you very much, Jacqui! 😉

Su says so eloquently exactly what I feel when I look at this …. the disconnect, the resolute denial that there are others around driving the determination to look any place but at one another. It is a social commentary in a picture and I love it in a heavy hearted way …. xxxxxx

Thank you very much, Fiona! I have to admit to sometimes worry about people not acknowledging each other properly anymore. It happens just about everywhere – cafes, train stations, airports, aeroplanes etc all places where it used to be normal to chat a little with each other.
Hope you’re well, dearest Fiona, I can’t help worrying about you a bit, no black dogs I hope… Sending you much love and huge hugs! Xxxxxxxxxx

A small black puppy to be fair. And that old devil called ‘imposter syndrome’ – the self-doubt that steps in when I’m not looking. Than you so much for lhe love and hugs. They are so welcome, you have no idea xxxxxxx

I’m so sorry to hear that. As adorable as all puppies are this particular one not so much.
I’m actually struggling with heaps of self doubt myself at the moment so I know the place well. Be gentle with yourself, the stupid inner critc and devil can have a party if they like but there comes a time when they have to leave, and leave they will! In the meantime try to find joy in the smaller and bigger things in life. Do you perchance know Julia Margaret? I’m currently reading her book ‘The Artist’s Way’ to help me get over this phase of indecision. Maybe you could also have a look into it. I find it quite insightful and helpful.

Dearest Sarah … you really are the sweetest of souls. I will find this book in a moment – Amazon has it’s place, no? I am so sorry that you are in a state of uncertainty too. It is blasted difficult but remember it is unsurprising too with the turmoil of the recent past with your mum which will be ongoing at some level as she tries to get back to an even keel healthwise. In better news, I have been taking a lot of photos and do intend to use them as a basis. And I’ve painted some truly dreadful watercolours 😂 The words will return – our respective muses will stop sleeping and we will be all the better for the drought, I am sure. Well done you, by the way, for pushing through your own rotten veggie patch to produce these wonderful b/w captures. I have such faith in your talent. Now off to find the book! Xxxxxxxxxxx

I hope you’ve found a copy of that book by now.😉 Amazon is great for that.😊
And I’m so happy to hear you’ve been taking lots of photos and even painting! Bravo! 😄 Please feel free to share any of your art with me via email if you like.😉
I also think that my mum’s recent health problems are partly to be blamed for that little blockage. Worrying can be so very tiring, can’t it? Plus that heatwave that’s still ongoing – for 4 weeks now and no end in sight – it’s really sucking all the energy out of me and I just try to get through each day and night. I’ve often fantasized about living in warmer climates but now I realize that it probably wouldn’t be so good after all.😉
Have a beautiful day, dearest Fiona! xxxxxxxxxxx 🌻🐞

Nice shot Sarah 🙂 I might have had a go at this in London but where we’ve been for the last couple of weeks there were more sheep than people most days! Now the football season is upon me so I need to get photographically ready for that. Maybe next year 🙂

Thanks a lot! And you can take up this challenge whenever you feel like it, no time limits. And I would actually love taking pictures of all those sheep! 😄

This is a wonderful image Sarah. The composition is beautiful, and it feels both timeless, and a very stark comment on our time. A group of people, bound it seems, by nothing but proximity. Haunting and sad. xxxxxxx

Thank you so much, Su! You’ve put my thoughts into words! I think it’s in fact quite scary how people seem to drift away from each other more and more. No small talk anymore, no nodding with you head in acknowledgment or simply a smile. People seem to have become automatons…

I think it’s easier to be friendly in smaller places. People in the village where I live still smile and say hello when they meet each other, but in the city it’s much more impersonal. xxx.

Sarah, I find myself looking forward to your blog each day since I know it will be another in this series. This photo is full of mystery, people dressed so unusually, focused so intently. Makes me wonder what and why.

Thanks so much, Shari! It’s so lovely to know that!
I really enjoy doing this so much, much more than I even expected.
The people in the picture were in fact standing in front of a tiny cafe that’s very trendy at the moment. Every time I walk by it’s like some kind of fashion show! People seem to go there more because of being seen than because of the coffee!!
