Day 6 of my new blog challenge –
Share Your Music! 30 Days 30 Songs!
Please feel free to join me anytime you want! And if you do, it would be lovely if you would pingback to my post so that I can keep track of your favorite songs as well.
After sharing with you one of the Beatles songs that I love, and naming John Lennon as my favorite Beatle, it’s only logical to share with you one of my favorite songs written and performed by him during his solo career.
I am so loving this series and you and I share a lot of favourite music in common.
Purely by coincidence I was on a school trip to Liverpool the day after Lennon was murdered. The mood was understandably sombre. But – the radio in the bus was playing Beatles/Lennon all the way there and back and it was this exposure to them that made me a Beatles fan. A bittersweet memory.

A bittersweet memory indeed, Darren. But what a lovely way of the bus driver to honor him by playing his music.
I wasn’t even born when he died but when I learned about his death it was quite a blow – I’ve just “discovered” the Beatles for myself and already one of them was gone. 😦 I can’t stop imagining what he might have come up with if he were still alive…

Yep. One of the best songs … ever. John Lennon’s death was my first real “remember where you were when you heard …” moments. I can still feel it.

He died shortly before I was born but I’ve always felt the pain of his death – we will never know what music he would have composed later on but my guess is that he would have gotten even better at it.

I remember the day he died. When our clock radio alarm went off that morning, the announcer was talking about Lennon’s death. My husband and I were in shock. We’d just woken up, we didn’t know what had happened, and we just couldn’t believe it.

I can only imagine how that must have felt, Liz.

Yes! Definitely among my top ten best songs of all time!
I recently watched the documentary film, John and Yoko: Above Us Only Sky, now streaming on Netflix here in the USA.

(PS. I’ve sent through the pingback. I’ve combined with another challenge. Scroll to the end quickly to avoid the spider).
