Day 18 of my new blog challenge –
Share Your Music! 30 Days 30 Songs!
Please feel free to join me anytime you want – casual players welcome. 😉
Imelda May is an Irish singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist. Although known primarily as a singer, she also plays the bodhrán, guitar, bass guitar and tambourine.
Described as “a unique vocal talent,” May is known for her musical style of rockabilly revival and has also been compared to female jazz musicians such as Billie Holiday.
Whenever I listen to her songs I can’t help wanting instantly to dress up in rockabilly dresses with polka dots and wear cat eye glasses. 😉
I always appreciate when someone picks music for us to listen to. Thank you. I’ll do my best to follow along and might post 30 songs in one post one June day. 😀 A different kind of casual player. 😉 Also thanks to Zimmerbitch for alerting me to your challenge. She gives mean music too.

Love it. I’m going to need a long road-trip soon, as I tend to listen to music most when I’m driving.

How about driving up all the way to Germany? That should do the trick. 😉 xxx

I love the song, the voice, the video! They have a real retro feel to me. The dance choreography reminds me of the old Busby Berkeley musicals. And speaking of bodies inside out, how about “T’ain’t No Sin to Take Off Your Skin and Dance Around In Your Bones”? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9bW4qauva8

She’s got that folk festival vibe about her, Sarah. I did a quick internet search and sure enough she has been to Australia before. She performed at the Byron Bay Blues Fest last Easter, and it looks like she may have been to the Woodford Folk Festival previously, so hopefully this means she will be coming to Canberra’s National Folk Festival soon. I’m so crossing my fingers that happens.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you too! I haven’t heard her live yet but would love to! Such energy and good vibes about her. 😄 I had a hard time choosing, playing my CD again and again – they’re all brilliant! 😄
