Last year’s Inktober was such fun that I was determined to participate again in 2020, and, if possible, try to make even more drawings than back then.
Sadly I didn’t manage to create more drawings, but under the circumstances (it turns out pandemics suck out your creative juice, well, at least they do that with mine) I’m happy to have managed at least a few drawings after all.
So, without further ado, here are my drawings for Inktober 2020:
I’d fun learning more about plants and flowers that are not only pretty but sometimes deadly beautiful, like foxglove:
Having read Harry Potter for the umpteenth time in October I simply had to include the Hogwarts coat of arms. I even made one of those online test that let you know to which of the four houses you’d belong – turns out I’m a Ravenclaw. 😉
Always willing to learn something new I gave it a try and made my first Manga style drawings:
Also I’ve been reminiscing about my childhood’s wish to become a marine biologist once I grew up – didn’t happen, but my love for marine wildlife is still going strong.
And that was it! Do you have any favorites? Let me know in the comments!
How could I possibly choose a favourite; they’re all wonderful Sarah

How are you and yours doing? I’ve heard there’s another lockdown in England as well. Hope you stay safe and healthy! xx

We are all fine thank you, although my sister tested positive, but she was/is OK .. We are going into tighter restrictions as from tomorrow and some parts are on proper lockdown again. I thought we were moving forward with the vaccine, seems we have gone backwards.. Oh well, let’s hope 2021 sees the back of this virus! xxx
Hope all is well with you and yours xxx

Sarah, what a beautiful collection of ink drawings you’ve created! I’m awed and inspired by what you’ve achieved and may try to do Inktober in November or December. Not positive which is my favorite – probably the one I’m looking at! I do really love the serpentine floral design inspired by your bed linens, and the blue whale in the circle is gorgeous. Please don’t make me wait until next October to see more of your lovely ink art.

Thank you very much, Shari! You really know how to make me blush. 😀
Hope you’ll find time to do your own Inktober and would love to see your ink drawings!!!
I’ve been trying to keep it up but already failed miserably! 😉 As I did with writing you an email – really, I’m such a looser and I apologize for it!
Wishing you a lovely weekend and hope all is well with you and yours! ❤

How is your class going? Are you breaking for Christmas soon? How are you all coping with the craziness at the moment?

Thanks a lot, Ju-Lyn!
My pottery course has been put on hold for the moment as students from different classes would mix and that’s not advisable right now with our numbers being so high. Fortunately I still get paid! I don’t think it’s likely that the course will take place again before Christmas but you never know. Our politicians change their minds daily/hourly!
And how are you?? ❤

It’s sad that classes get disrupted, but definitely Safety first!!! I am glad your school is enlightened and keeps you on the payroll. It is frightening how things change so quickly!
We are doing fine. Singapore’s numbers are controlled for now. Waiting to see what happens once travel between some countries resume – a little anxiety there, but we can’t stay closed forever.
We would have been in London by now, to spend Christmas with family. But it is what it is. We will have to have a Family Zoom Christmas.

Glad to hear that things are relatively well in Singapore.
Yes, lots of family zoom Christmas this year I bet! Well, better than nothing! 😀

Exactly! I think if we rethink it a little, it doesn’t have to be a washout!

These are all so beautiful – I love ink drawings. You are incredibly talented – my favorites are the flower descriptions. I don’t understand the German but it looks so exotic!

Thanks so much, Kerry! I was hesitant at first if I should write in German but thought what the heck?! This way no one will know if there are any spelling mistakes – LOL! 😉

I love the grace of the flower from your bed linens. And I’m impressed by your manga-style drawing. But like many others, my favorite is the last one. Our early ambitions aren’t lost. They just surface in a surprising form. Your interest in marine biology wasn’t in vain.
I hope you enjoyed your time drawing.

Thanks so much for your lovely and wise comment, Nicki! I really like the notion that our early ambitions are neither lost nor in vain but that they simple resurface in another form. 😀 Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

They are all brilliant. I can’t pick a favourite. Spirited Away is one of my most favourite movies.

Thanks a lot, Tracy! No worries, I’m really bad at picking favorites myself so I understand. 😉
Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies as well!! (Should do a Film Friday about it!)

My favorite is the blue whale in a circle. There is something about it that is very appealing. Perhaps it reminds me of illustrated books from childhood.

Your work gets better as I scroll down. My favourite is the last, the Blue Whale with the dark sky! Tremendous! (I’m still doing my November daily sketches which are great fun. I’ll have to do my Inktober in December 🤣

Thanks so much! That was also the order I made these drawings and I noticed how I got better (and faster!) each day. 😀 Too bad it’s November now, so no more drawing (just kidding! Though it does seem that I don’t find as much time for it than when a challenge is going on.)
Also I think it’s perfectly okay to do your Inktober in December. Many work on their drawings the whole year and present them either whenever they did them or keep them for next October. Hope you’ll share yours? Would love to see them!

My favorite is the “Blue Whale in a Circle.” You’re not alone. The pandemic has also sucked out my creative juice. Thanks to my writers’ critique group, I’ve been plodding ahead with my writing project.
